The month of December has been quite enjoyable! With Esther’s first Christmas behind us we are able to share our wonderful thoughts and feelings.
Just before Christmas Esther started solid foods and as you can see she is definitely a Gruntmeir, she loves to try new and exciting foods! Each week we try something new that mommy or daddy has prepared for her.
While I was still pregnant with Esther, we received a baby cook book anonymously on our front door…I wish we knew who sent it to us so that we can thank them because it has been one of our most exciting gifts to date. Jeff and I have been making our own baby food, special for Esther. (A Blog about our baby food adventures to follow)
Our first Christmas party was at Grandma Doris’ house where we played “White Elephant” and watched Esther open her first gifts. Several new and fun toys were unwrapped and were able to be enjoyed throughout the day. Pamma Gruntmeir smiles for the camera with Esther... we’re thinking this is where Esther comes up with the red hair =)
Our hearts were filled with joy this Christmas as we woke up Christmas Eve morning to eat breakfast as a family, read the Christmas story to Esther and open gifts. Excited for the new traditions and memories we can create, Jeff and I look forward to next year! We enjoyed watching Esther get so excited for each new present placed in front of her. She ripped through one gift after another. Some of her favorite gifts she received from mommy, daddy and family were books and a dinosaur that sings the ABC’s, along with many more…
Saturday evening our family attended the candle light service at church where all the children were invited to the stage for a Christmas story read by Miss Carey. After the service and communion, Esther rested up before Christmas party number 2 at Grandma and Grandpa Thompson’s house.
We all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas dinner then sat around the tree for another spectacular mess of wrapping paper and bows!
To end a wonderful weekend of Christmas merriment, Sunday morning we attended church as usual and invited my family and Pamma Gruntmeir over for a home cooked meal and a relaxing afternoon. We enjoyed our time spent with family and Jeff received his most exciting gift this Christmas that afternoon… Esther signed the word “Daddy” for the first time!
